The slogans of current generation focused on removing discrimination will be rendered irrelevant as virtual competence replaces the traditional social skills Aparna and I started reflecting and we came up with 10 things that will shape our work lives for the next few generations. Alongside mankind’s propensity to make the most of any crises, lies the ability of technology to help us leapfrog generations. However, we purposely excluded ‘technology’ as it is not an end to itself and our focus was to peer into the future trends irrespective of the underlying drivers.Ĭhange does not happen overnight – nor does it happen on its own. We move it along one step at a time, until the old and the new blurs and we have a hard time even remembering the world as it originally was. We should be able to see the shoots of these trends start to sprout all over but then we will also play a part in acknowledging, accepting and imbibing them in time to come. ![]() ![]() In every crisis lies opportunity. As our society embraces the ‘work from home’ paradigm in the ‘Services Industry’, we also share the responsibility for evolving the ‘New Normal’. In the last 100 odd years nothing, not even the Spanish Flu nor World War II, has so dramatically altered society in such a short span of time. Many of our long-held beliefs and so-called axioms about work life don’t hold relevance. The debate today is no longer is about our ability to work from home. The moot question today is what the future holds for generations to come.
